Crucified with Christ
Galatians 2:20 reads, “I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.” (KJV).
According to this verse, I have been “…crucified with Christ.” Somehow, I shared in this drawn out and brutally agonizing execution. What Christ accomplished 2,000 years ago has impacted me in this present time. And in some way “it is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me.” The life that I now live, in my earthly body, I live by faith in (i.e. by completely trusting in) the Son of God. This life is not something that I try to live on my own. Trusting in Christ fully (his life, crucifixion and resurrection) is what makes this life possible. By the power of his Holy Spirit, I am able to rely totally on Christ, “who loved me and gave himself for me.”
Prayer: Father, it was your Son who died on the cross for me. He experienced, first hand, this drawn out and brutally agonizing execution. Someway/somehow my life has shared in what he experienced 2,000 years ago. And, someway/somehow my life has been impacted, in this present time, by what he accomplished at that time. “It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me”, all because of the person and work of your Son. The life that I now live, in my earthly body, I live by faith in (i.e. by completely trusting in) your Son. This life is not something that I try to live on my own. Trusting in Christ fully (his life, crucifixion and resurrection) is what makes this life possible. By the power of your Holy Spirit, I am able to rely totally on Christ, “who loved me and gave himself for me.” And it is in his name I pray.
